VMware and HP announced an agreement at VMworld 2010 to deliver a new virtualization solution to help customers accelerate cloud computing deployment and "IT as a Service", and better control and manage the physical and virtual aspects of cloud infrastructure ...
The integrated cloud infrastructure solution combines the new VMware vCloud Director with the HP BladeSystem Matrix and HP Cloud Maps. The integration will be available as a technology preview by the end of the year.
From a Business Service Management perspective, the big news is a new HP Insight Control extension for VMware vCenter Server, enabling users to optimize their IT environments and reduce complexity with better management.
“HP’s new Insight Control for VMware vCenter Server delivers comprehensive infrastructure management capabilities, including comprehensive monitoring, remote control and power optimization directly from the VMware vCenter Server console, ” says Jeff Carlat, Director of Marketing, Insight & Partner Software, Industry Standard Servers and Software, HP.
“A single pane of glass that brings a physical and virtual view of the infrastructure enables clients to save valuable time effort through deep monitoring and performance capabilities of virtual machines, as well as the underlying host systems that support them,” Carlat continues. “Insight Control provides integrated troubleshooting and lifecycle management of the underlying compute, storage and networking which further simplify data center operations while reducing risk and power costs.”
