With more than 17,000 attendees, VMworld – held from August 30 through September 2 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco – has clearly become the leading event in the virtualization and cloud space. And cloud is the must-have technology of 2010. That is why we pushed our schedule back and bumped the articles we had planned for August so we could focus the entire issue on the Business Service Management news coming out of VMworld.

I find it especially interesting that VMware took this opportunity with this huge audience not only to introduce new products but to also drive a strategy to move towards “IT as a Service”, a concept that aligns perfectly with Business Service Management. BSM and cloud go hand in hand. That is why we are planning to continue with a similar topic next month, focusing the entire issue on private cloud.

I should say for the record, the fact that we highlighted VMworld in this issue was not in any way a response to the very exciting news that VMware has become a Silver Sponsor of our magazine this month, with the company’s SpringSource Hyperic division. The coverage in this issue is simply part of BSMdigest’s ongoing efforts to bring you Business Service Management content that is timely, relevant and interesting.

In addition to VMware, BSMdigest also welcomes AccelOps as a Bronze Sponsor. You can learn more about all our Sponsors on our BSMdigest Sponsors page.

Once again, to ensure you keep receiving BSMdigest every month via email, please take the time to subscribe, if you have not done so already. And if you have any suggestions of topics you would like to see covered in BSMdigest, let me know.
