Jonah Kowall — formerly of Gartner — has joined AppDynamics as VP of Market Development and Insights.

In this newly created position, Kowall will be charged with helping drive the company’s product roadmap and vision, while developing entry into new markets and providing valuable technology and business insights to fuel the accelerating and broad-based demand for the company’s Application Intelligence Platform.

Kowall comes to AppDynamics with a diverse background including 15 years as an IT practitioner at several startups and larger enterprises focused on infrastructure and operations, security, and performance engineering. In 2011 Jonah changed careers, moving to Gartner to focus on availability and performance monitoring and IT operations management (ITOM). Jonah led Gartner's influential application performance monitoring (APM) and network performance monitoring and diagnostics (NPMD) magic quadrants as a research vice president.

“Jonah is a world-renowned expert in application performance management and the broader IT operations management market,” said Jyoti Bansal, founder and CEO at AppDynamics. “We’re extremely pleased to have Jonah join us at this very exciting time as we broaden and elevate the overall value proposition for the AppDynamics Application Intelligence Platform to the CIO’s office. Jonah’s tremendous market and industry insights and experience will be a valuable addition as we continue to aggressively build out the product portfolio and target new markets for expansion.”

Kowall said, “AppDynamics has the ability to address not only the future problems facing businesses as they seek to transform and keep pace with fast-moving native digital businesses, but also to handle many of the struggles within typical enterprises both in terms of visibility into, and assuring availability and performance of, infrastructure and applications.

"I’m very excited and look forward to helping craft a future path for AppDynamics to broaden our capabilities and build a fresh perspective on visibility within these critical business transactions. This future path will allow for unprecedented understanding of what makes applications, and ultimately businesses, successful.”
