ManageEngine announced the launch of ManageEngine Server Monitor, the free iPhone app for Windows server monitoring.
Available now, the app also lets administrators ping and reboot servers remotely.
Monitoring the status of Windows services is an important task that an admin performs on a routine basis. Any service disruption directly impacts the related business applications. The iPhone native app frees admins from the confines of their desk and helps in making Windows monitoring seamless.
"Recent surveys of our users reveal that IT admins prize having IT control at their fingertips while on the go. ManageEngine Server Monitor lets the admins instantly access a server to perform routine yet critical Windows management tasks at any time, from anywhere," said Vidya Vasu, head of the ManageEngine Community. "Our free tools for Windows management were targeted at start-ups and SMEs, but our surveys show that those tools are popular among mid and large enterprises as well. We will continue to provide free utilities that prove valuable to enterprises of all sizes."
The ManageEngine Server Monitor is an independent but complementary extension of its desktop counterpart, Windows Service Monitor. The new app was inspired by feedback from the company's free tools user base.
In addition to Windows services monitoring, the app enables IT admins to remotely:
- monitor server availability using ICMP ping
- change the status of Windows services
- configure the start-up mode of Windows services
- restart and shutdown servers
- configure the start-up type
