Nastel introduced the new AutoPilot Heap Detective tool, for detecting Java memory leaks, at the Gartner Symposium ITxpo 2012 conference.
Free and available for download now, it can operate as a standalone tool or be integrated with Nastel AutoPilot for detection, diagnostics and alerting as part of a traditional APM solution.
While, Java Heap usage often fluctuates, this is not necessarily leaky behavior. AutoPilot with Heap Detective can go further than reporting memory usage and can detect the “patterns of behavior,” such as oscillation rate which could be indicative of a leak in one or more JVMs.
Features:
- Gathers detailed memory usage
- Analyzes JVM heap remotely on any running JVM without generating a heap dump
- Force Garbage Collection remotely
- Shows JVM summary: Java properties, heap usage and free memory
- Drill down to areas where memory is used by Instance Count, Retained Size and Shallow size
- Drill down to what objects hold references to top memory consumers
- Take and compare multiple heap snapshots
