Nastel Technologies announced support for IBM’s new CICS Transaction Server (TS) for z/OS V5.1 and their System Z operating system, adding to the company’s already robust portfolio of real-time performance monitoring solutions, both distributed and mainframe.
Nastel has long provided support for the mainframe as part of its middleware-centric application performance monitoring solution, AutoPilot, whose cross-platform capabilities help enterprises rationalize their monitoring in order to contain costs.
Nastel’s early-to-market support for the auto-discovery and monitoring of transactions by CICS TS V5.1, the latest version of IBM’s solution, underlines the company’s commitment to this important middleware platform.
“Using AutoPilot, enterprises can automatically discover and monitor the flow of CICS TS transactions in real-time. In addition they can trace messages, transactions and Web Services from the distributed infrastructure across to the mainframe environment and back. This visibility provides IT with the necessary detail to resolve problems rapidly at the same time delivering the business real-time status of their milestones,” said Charles Rich, vice president of Product Management at Nastel. “Most importantly, AutoPilot for IBM CICS TS’ built-in real-time analytics alerts IT about emerging problems before users are impacted, enabling IT to be less reactive.”
AutoPilot for IBM CICS TS functions:
- Track messages and transactions within WMQ and CICS
- Stitches z/OS transactions to distributed transactions across tiers
- Compares actual performance to expected using user-defined SLAs
- Supports failover in a CICSPLEX environment
- Enables invoking of EXEC CICS and EXEC SQL commands
- Supports CICS Transaction Filters and Group Names
Nastel also announced AutoPilot for System Z, a solution that monitors the operation of the System Z operating system, automatically detecting trends in performance and issuing notification about pending problems before damage occurs. AutoPilot for System Z correlates the real-time z/OS state with that from the distributed infrastructure providing instant end-to-end visibility.
Features include:
- Real-time monitoring and analysis of Address Space, z/OS DB2, MQ and z/OS CICS statistics
- Prebuilt reports for data analysis and troubleshooting
- Console capture for messages sent to the system log
