National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) has designated the SolarWinds Orion suite of IT management products as certified in the Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS), an international standard for computer security achieved by national laboratory testing and evaluation.
Common Criteria is an internationally recognized standard that provides a broad range of evaluation criteria for commercial and nationally sensitive government-use IT security products. Federal IT users needing to run applications in National Security Systems (NSS) environments can now look to SolarWinds as a compliant software solution.
"The Federal government, and its departments and civilian agencies, have a great use for SolarWinds software, and we make it our goal to provide the safe and secure products our government requires," said Kevin Thompson, President and CEO of SolarWinds. "We are proud to provide Common Criteria-certified products to our Federal customers so we can support the unique IT environments of our government and its military branches."
The Target of Evaluation (TOE), the products collectively listed below, provides security functionalities including identification and authentication, management, network monitoring, and configuration management all approved for use in Federal IT environments.
With the Common Criteria certification, the following SolarWinds Orion software can be loaded and used on Federal networks:
- Network Performance Monitor (NPM) V 10.1.3 - Management and monitoring of dynamic network performance
- Application Performance Monitor (APM) V 4.0.0 - Server, application, and OS monitoring (Also known as SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor -- SAM)
- Network Configuration Manager (NCM) V 6.1.0 - Network configuration and compliance management
- Network Traffic Analyzer (NTA) V 3.7.0 - Flow-based network traffic analysis

CyngaCom Solutions, a Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL) accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Assessment Program (NVLAP) and approved by the NIAP, determined that the above products meet the security criteria for the certification. The CygnaCom SEL performs Common Criteria evaluations in accordance with the NIAP CCEVS.
SolarWinds products are available on US General Services Administration (GSA) schedule, through authorized resellers and multiple Federal purchasing vehicles.
