eG Innovations announced the general availability of the latest release of its flagship product, eG Enterprise v7.2.
"The last few years have forced dramatic changes in the IT landscape. Digitization of customer and supply-chain interactions has accelerated by 3 to 4 years and organizations across verticals and sizes are relying on IT even more than before. This has increased the demands on IT operations teams", said Srinivas Ramanathan, CEO of eG Innovations.
Modern IT infrastructures include digital workspaces to support hybrid work styles and unified communication technologies like Microsoft Teams and Zoom for collaboration. Cloud, container and SaaS technologies are also being adopted at a rapid pace. "IT monitoring tools have to adapt to this changing world. Domain expertise, automation capabilities and simple usage model and interface are essential for success. At the same time, IT admins are having to answer new types of questions - around usage and cost, and play a more important role than before in delivering ROI for organizations. This is where the shift from IT monitoring to observability is happening" said Ramanathan.
eG Enterprise v7.2 is a complete observability solution for modern IT technologies. Domain-specific monitoring capabilities continue to be at the core of the solution, but are now augmented with capabilities to monitor security aspects of IT, to automate resolution of problems, to report on unused and wasted cloud resources and so on.
Enhancements in this release cover all key focus areas of modern IT:
- Enhanced Monitoring for Multi-Vendor Digital Workspaces: eG Enterprise now provides the most comprehensive range of monitoring, diagnosis and reporting capabilities for any digital workspace. Whether you are using one or more of Citrix, VMware Horizon, AWS AppStream 2.0, AWS WorkSpaces, Microsoft RDS, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktops, you get a consistent set of dashboards and reports with eG Enterprise. New support also covers Citrix Linux Desktops, Windows 365 Cloud PCs, multi-vendor GPU usage, IGEL endpoints and physical endpoints. Get a consistent set of dashboards and reports across these diverse technologies.
- Deeper Insights into Web Application Performance: eG Enterprise web application simulator has been made simpler to use and now supports TOTP-based two factor authentication, dynamic Captcha and also handles untrusted SSL certificates. Real user monitoring (RUM) enhancements include support for all modern browsers and improved user-centric perceived performance metrics. Full support for monitoring Node.JS applications on VMs and container platforms is now available. Transaction tracing has been extended to support .NET Core applications.
- Expanded Coverage for End-to-End, Unified Monitoring: Cloud monitoring support has been expanded to cover a whole range of AWS and Azure services including AWS Trusted Advisor, AWS Resource Usage, AWS S3, AWS Billing, AWS Connect, AWS API Gateway, Azure Advisor, Azure Quota Usage, Azure Activity Logs, Azure Log Analytics, Azure Firewall and VPN Gateways and more. New dashboards are available for AWS and Azure monitoring as well. For container environments, Red Hat OpenShift integration is available now and support for monitoring CRI-O worker nodes is available. Several new network device types are supported. Storage monitoring includes support for monitoring Cohesity, Panzura and HPE StoreOnce. A number of Apache and other middleware technologies are also supported in this release.
- Enhanced Monitoring for Enterprise/SaaS Applications. SAP monitoring has been extended to support development/cloud environments such as SAP Neo (Cloud Platform) and SAP BTP Cloud Foundry, SAP HANA XS (app/web server) and Lumira (visualization). Support for modern authentication is included in Microsoft O365 monitoring. Real-Time Call Quality Analytics for Microsoft Teams is now provided using webhooks integration. User-specific usage metrics are now available to the helpdesk for quick troubleshooting. Mail paths can now be tracked as part of synthetic monitoring. These insights are especially useful in hybrid email deployment scenarios and can provide indications of where slowness in mail delivery lies.
eG Enterprise v 7.2 also includes several architectural improvements.
- Admins have the ability to push agents from a central location and a single command deployment of agents on Windows and Linux is supported.
- A new Incident management panel has been introduced with the ability to clearly highlight the root-cause of problems from their effects.
- Remote Control Action permissions can now be assigned per user. The set of commands available to each user is configurable.
- The eG Mobile App functionality has been enhanced to make it as functional as the browser interface. SSO integration with Active Directory and SAML is also supported.
- Additional ITSM integrations with TOPdesk, ServiceNow ITOM, Freshdesk and BMC Remedy are supported. Support for multiple ITSM tools on a single manager is also available.
eG Enterprise v7.2 is available as fully managed SaaS - it is fully multi-tenant and self-provisioned. Enterprises and MSPs can benefit from many self-service options that automate and accelerate the provisioning of the system. eG Innovations remains committed to feature parity for users with data compliance and regulatory requirements who wish to deploy and maintain their own installation on-premises or in a cloud or hosting location of their choice.
