BMC Software announced the acquisition of privately-held GridApp Systems, Inc., a leader in automating database provisioning, patching and administration. With the acquisition of GridApp, BMC is expanding its current offering to include database automation, allowing full stack end-to-end enterprise application deployment and management.

GridApp’s solution reduces the cost, complexity and risk associated with deploying and configuring enterprise databases in physical, virtual and cloud environments. The GridApp solution is already integrated with BMC BladeLogic Server Automation and is currently in use by multiple joint customers.

“According to Gartner research, more than 40% of all mission-critical IT service outages are due to people and process errors and failures, with a significant number of those due to a lack of coordination between change management, release management and configuration management. Where organizations have not successfully implemented configuration automation, the increase in change activity results in a decrease in efficiencies and more human errors. Server configuration tools enable IT administrators and engineers to be more efficient and effective at executing system configuration changes."

GridApp’s solutions automate these administrative tasks, giving businesses greater IT flexibility, improving business reliability and creating a consistent, compliant IT environment. GridApp’s automation capabilities extend the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution, empowering a broader set of IT staff to request and manage database resources in cloud environments.
