Riverbed Technology announced that the SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) has certified that Riverbed StingrayTM Traffic Manager version 9 integrates with the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 technology platform.

As a result, Stingray Traffic Manager will be able to help more customers deploying SAP NetWeaver improve the performance of their enterprise applications.

Stingray is a full-featured software and virtual layer 7 application delivery controller (ADC) that balances workloads for enterprise websites and cloud services and optimizes end-user services by prioritizing and routing application traffic.

"Customers running SAP solutions who are moving to virtual and cloud-based infrastructures will benefit by deploying Stingray Traffic Manager. This will help improve the performance, security, and resilience of enterprise applications," said Jeff Pancottine, SVP and GM of the Stingray application delivery business unit at Riverbed. “With SAP's rigorous testing of our products, these enterprises can now be assured that our products integrate with SAP NetWeaver and will help them achieve improved performance of business-critical applications."

In these tests, SAP used Stingray Traffic Manager installed as a virtual appliance with the SAP NetWeaver technology platform and simulated normal end-user conditions to determine that the two can interoperate successfully, to meet the strict test criteria set by SAP.

In each scenario, the Stingray software was certified to meet SAP requirements for application functionality, performance, and security. In addition, Stingray was shown to provide additional enhancements for application availability, resilience, and encryption, while helping reduce the workload of SAP application servers.
