Independent industry analyst firm Research in Action has recognized Compuware as the #1 vendor globally for Deep Application Transaction Management.

According to Research in Action's market analysis report titled: The Need for Speed: Research In Action Vendor Selection Matrix - Deep Application Transaction Management, which evaluated ten vendors on their strategy and execution capabilities, Compuware ranked above all its competitors in both categories. Offering the overall most balanced solution in the market, Compuware was also found to have the highest customer satisfaction and mindshare of all ten competitors.

"As users grow increasingly mobile and with applications distributed across the enterprise and cloud, it's becoming more of a challenge to maintain IT service quality," said Dr. Thomas Mendel Ph.D., Managing Director of Research in Action. "Most enterprises now face the challenge of managing not only their legacy systems, but also a mixed bag of web applications and cloud services, significantly increasing complexity. As a result, IT service managers require the ability to auto-discover performance issues and gain a detailed level of visibility into the real end-user experience. This enables them to monitor performance not only within their own infrastructure, but along the entire application transaction path, from origin to end-user."

"Compuware today covers all aspects of the deep application transaction management market extremely well," Mendel continued. "By enabling customers to choose between SaaS and traditional deployment methods, the outlook for Compuware is positive."

Research in Action defines the APM market as the monitoring and managing of the performance and availability of software applications. It values the market at around $5 billion in software licenses, maintenance and SaaS revenues, with an annual growth rate of between 10-15 percent. In recent years, this market has become crowded, and the term APM has been diluted. As a result, Research in Action has focused on a subset of the APM market, examining solutions that monitor and manage the flow of the application transactions from the application origin to the end-user: Deep Application Transaction Management.

"This accolade shows clear recognition of Compuware's market leadership and long history of innovation, execution and delivery," said John Van Siclen, GM of Compuware's APM business unit. "Our new generation approach to APM and deep transaction management is setting a new industry standard and fundamentally changing the way that performance is managed. Ultimately, this is great news for Compuware and our customers alike, as we enable them to maximize the return on their investments in enterprise applications."
