BMC Software announced the acquisition of I/O Concepts with its industry-leading ioEnterprise line of mainframe console security, automation and consolidation solutions.

The acquisition expands BMC’s MainView monitoring and automation suite and reflects the company’s commitment to best-in-class solutions for managing any IBM System z console environment.

The ioEnterprise solution will be introduced as BMC MainView Console Management for zEnterprise. The solution enables customers to efficiently manage complex and geographically dispersed operations from a consolidated and secured point of control.

BMC MainView Console Management for zEnterprise allows customers to realize a strong return on investment in the form of increased productivity, reduced staffing requirements and enhanced systems availability. Further, customers benefit from remote access and control while retaining full security and audit coverage.

“This strategic investment enhances BMC solutions for datacenter management and automation by adding a best-in-class product that complements and extends our industry-leading monitoring and automation suite,” said Bill Miller, President, Mainframe Service Management, BMC Software.

“The acquisition of I/O Concepts reinforces BMC’s commitment to mainframe cost optimization, reduced risks and improved productivity. It provides customers with the benefits of scaling operations as they continue to modernize and automate their processes to improve business efficiencies.”

By consolidating datacenter management into a single point of control, datacenter managers can achieve more efficiency and productivity at lower costs. Datacenter operations and monitoring staff can quickly and easily navigate multiple console displays, search information and scroll through messages from dozens of consoles – located anywhere – to diagnose and fix problems. BMC MainView Console Management for zEnterprise meets critical security and compliance requirements, enabling remote console security, role-based command suppression and link encryption.

With BMC MainView solutions, end-users can also:

* Deliver quick return on investment by minimizing downtime, increasing operations productivity, enabling remote operations and managing disaster recovery.

* Meet security and compliance requirements through access control to critical management infrastructure and compliance audits.

* Simplify setup and access using a modern web-based interface without requiring specialty hardware or non-standard networking.
