“People depend on Wireshark to show them what's happening on their networks, and they depend on SharkFest in order to get the most out of Wireshark. Being able to share knowledge between our expert instructors, attendees, and developers in a welcoming venue has been indispensable. It's a major highlight of our 20 year history and the importance of the community in driving the relevance of Wireshark as an important network tool,” said Gerald Combs, Director of Open Source Projects at Riverbed and Wireshark project founder. “Riverbed is proud to sponsor SharkFest and contribute to its mission for it to remain an independent and educational conference.”

Wireshark is the de facto standard and most widely-deployed open-source network and packet analysis tool consistently downloaded 1M+ times/month by IT Professionals across all network-related disciplines. Riverbed is the current host and corporate sponsor of the Wireshark project, Wireshark Foundation and SharkFest.

SharkFest’s aim is to support ongoing Wireshark development, to educate and inspire current and future generations of computer science and IT professionals responsible for managing, troubleshooting, diagnosing and securing legacy and modern networks, and to encourage widespread use of the free analysis tool.
