OPNET Technologies, a provider of solutions for application and network performance management, announced a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering for monitoring the performance of web applications, AppResponse Xpert SaaS Edition.
The SaaS model appeals to many organizations because it has zero footprint in the IT environment. AppResponse Xpert SaaS Edition uses JavaScript to instrument web pages downloaded by browsers, extending end-user experience monitoring to all users, wherever they are located. JavaScript instrumentation is particularly important for enabling monitoring of applications deployed in a public cloud.
AppResponse Xpert SaaS Edition reports key metrics, including end-to-end response time, response time break-down, browser and platform data, page view statistics, and performance threshold violations.
Customers can subscribe to AppResponse Xpert SaaS Edition online, and be up and running almost instantly. Pricing is based on the number of page views, so cost grows in proportion to web site usage. A subscription is free for the first month.
“We are very excited about our new SaaS offering because it provides a new option for end-user experience monitoring that will appeal to many organizations,” stated Marc Cohen, OPNET’s Chairman and CEO. “Combined with OPNET’s extensive portfolio of industry-leading APM products, including both SaaS and on-premises, we offer an attractive approach to managing application performance for every organization, large and small.”
