SolarWinds announced enhanced support for Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition in the latest release of SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer.

With enriched support for Oracle Database 12c, database administrators (DBAs) can accelerate the performance of pluggable databases (PDBs) in a multitenant container database (CDB) through tuning, metric visibility and resource correlation to help ensure the availability and speed of business critical applications.

“In Oracle 12c, DBAs encounter the challenge of monitoring both the containers and the databases that plug into them, and as their infrastructure grows, this will only become more complicated,” said Nikki Jennings, Group VP, Product Strategy, SolarWinds. “To support DBAs as they constantly strive to hone the performance of their databases, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer now has the ability to register and monitor individual pluggable databases. With this granular visibility alongside the optimization capabilities that SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer has become known for, DBAs can help ensure fast performance of both their databases and all of the applications that depends on them.”

SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer delivers deep visibility into top database platforms, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL, and provides advice for optimization and tuning to accelerate performance. Using agentless architecture and multi-dimensional performance analysis, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer quickly finds the root cause of complex problems and improves the performance of on-premises, virtualized, cloud or hybrid environments.

With support for Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition, the latest version of SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer simplifies monitoring PDBs in a multitenant CDB with:

- Automatic detection of PDB groups and association of PDBs with CDBs

- Annotations that record PDB movements including when a database joins or leaves a CDB and track the significance of any change trends over time

- Alerts that provide information about movement and availability of PDBs

- Performance analysis and optimization features that complement Oracle Enterprise Manager and simplify troubleshooting with response-time analysis
